2. SARAH2 MORRISON (Hugh1); (my great great grandmother), born circa 1780–1790;154 alive in 1840; probably died in the 1840s; married JOHN LYTLE, born circa 1775–1794; died 1837 or 1838. The children of John and Sarah (Morrison) Lytle were (1) William Lytle; (2) Thomas Lytle; (3) Joseph Lytle; (4) Jane Lytle; (5) Sarah Lytle; (6). Elizabeth Lytle; (7) Ann Lytle; (8) John Lytle; (9) James Lytle; and (10) Mary Lytle. For information on John and Sarah (Morrison) Lytle and their descendants, see #3 of the Lytle web site.


3. THOMAS2 MORRISON (Hugh1), born 6 November 1794; died 7 June 1852 in Deerfield Township, Warren County;155 buried in Old Tidioute Cemetery, Deerfield Township;156 married (first) ELIZABETH HUNTER, born circa 1794; married (second) MARGARET HUNTER, born circa 1799 (sister of Elizabeth Hunter). A third Hunter sister, Violet Hunter (born 4 November 1789; died in the 1850s), married Richard Henderson, a brother of Margaret (Henderson) Watson. The Hunter sisters were daughters of Robert and Elizabeth (Park) Hunter—see "Hunters" in the Henderson web site.

The family eventually moved to Deerfield Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania.157 Thomas was in the War of 1812.158

Vital Statistics, Venango County, 1852–1854, compiled by the Venango County Genealogical Club, 1981, lists the death of a Thomas Morrison, farmer, age circa 48; died of typhoid fever at his residence in Scrubgrass Township, 12 November 1852. He was not the Thomas Morrison of our line, who also died in 1852.

+ 10 i. Hugh3 Morrison, born 26 August 1819; died 16 November 1883; married (first) Martha McGuire; married (second) Jane P. Holeman.
+ 11 ii. Robert Hunter Morrison, born 8 August 1821; died 1892 in Tidioute, Deerfield Township, Warren County; married (first), 19 May 1853, Mariah L. Lindsay; married (second) Catherine I. Rutledge.
12 iii. Elizabeth Morrison, born circa 1824; married Benjamin Courson, born circa 1823. In 1850, the family was living in Deerfield Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania, where Benjamin was listed as a lumberman. In 1860 and 1870, Elizabeth, widow, and children were still in Deerfield Township.159

16 vii. Matthew Jackson Morrison, born circa 1833; married Sarah J. [—?—], born circa 1843 in Pennsylvania. In 1870 and 1880, the family was living in Deerfield Township, Warren County, where Matthew was enumerated as a farmer in 1870 and a lumberman in 1880.160

17 viii. Salina Morrison, born 22 July 1834; died 29 October 1853; buried in old Tidioute Cemetery, Deerfield Township, Warren County.161
+ 18 ix. Nathan Parke Morrison, born 17 January 1836; died 3 April 1918; married (first) Mary Ellen Gillespie; married (second) Sarah (White) Wilcox.
19 x. Margaret Marilla Morrison, born 9 October 1837; died 5 February 1921 in Wisconsin; married (first) Henry Magee, born circa 1850 in Pennsylvania; married (second) Benjamin Carey; married (third) [—?—] Osborn.
Child of Henry Magee, a farmer, and Margaret known from the 1880 federal census for Warren County, Pennsylvania:
(a) Brit? Magee, born circa 1872 in Pennsylvania.162


4. MATTHEW2 MORRISON (Hugh1), born 14 March 1797; died 14 September 1867; married ELIZABETH HOWE, “from Philadelphia,”163 born 24 December 1801 in Philadelphia. Matthew was on the 1835 tax list for Cornplanter Township. Matthew and family eventually moved to Penn Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania.

24 v. Sarah Morrison, born 1830; died 1921; married David N. McDonald.
25 vi. Hugh Morrison, born circa 1838.
26 vii. Mary Morrison, born circa 1840.
27 viii. Andrew G. Morrison, born December 1842; married Amanda E. [—?—], born May 1846 in Pennsylvania. The family lived in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Andrew (erroneously reported born December 1857 in 1900) was a laborer in 1900 and 1910.165

(a) Mary E. Morrison, born circa 1874, listed as a chamber maid in 1900.
(b) Augustus Morrison, born October 1876, listed as a carpenter in 1900.
(c) Laura Morrison, born July 1879, listed as a nurse's aid in 1910.
(d) Lida Morrison, born January 1884.
(e) Chester B. Morrison, born October 1886.
28 ix. Samuel Morrison, born circa 1845.
29 x. Aaron Morrison, born circa 1848; married Elizabeth [—?—, born circa 1854 in Pennsylvania.
Children (all born in Pennsylvania) known from the 1880 federal census for Butler, Pennsylvania, when Aaron was enumerated as a blacksmith:166
(a) Sarah E. Morrison, born circa 1870
(b) Edward L. Morrison, born circa 1875.

5. JAMES2 MORRISON (Hugh1), born 11 April 1799; died 30 November 1862 in Venango County; buried in Sugarcreek Memorial Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Venango County; married MARY FOSTER, born 1799; also buried in Sugarcreek Memorial Cemetery.167 Mary Foster was a daughter of John and Rebecca (Lee) Foster; Rebecca was born in 1768.168

James Morrison was an auditor in Cherrytree Township in 1826. The family also lived in Jackson Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania169

30 i. John3 Boyd Morrison, born 25 July 1823, in Venango County; died 28 October 1852 in Venango County; buried in Sugarcreek Memorial Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Venango County.
+ 31 ii. Rebecca Morrison, born 29 February 1824; died 6 November 1906; married James Nelson.

32 iii. Elizabeth Morrison, born 31 January 1826; married John Holton.
33 iv. Sarah Morrison, born 1 June 1828; died 17 February 1917; in 1910, single, she was living with her brother Josiah (#35) and his son Milton's family in Randolph Township, Crawford County. She apparently did not marry.
34 v. Mary Jane Morrison, born 17 November 1830; died 13 November 1863 in Venango County; buried Sugarcreek Memorial Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township.
+ 35 vi. Josiah Lytle Morrison, born 1 January 1837; died 21 June 1912 in Crawford County; married Rebecca McCauley.
+ 36 vii. James Kennedy Morrison, born 26 April 1839; died 18 May 1921 in Crawford County.
