Generation Twopage 26. JOSEPH2 MORRISON (Hugh1); born 1803 in Pennsylvania; died 21 February 1874; buried Sutton Hill Cemetery,171 Deerfield Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania; married ANN BEATTY, born circa 1804 in Pennsylvania. Joseph Morrison eventually moved to the Tidioute area, Deerfield Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania.172 By 1870, Ann apparently was dead and Joseph was living with his son Robert D. and family in Deerfield Township, where Joseph was enumerated as a carpenter.173 There is an International Genealogical Index item for Pennsylvania Morrisons, listing the following children of Joseph Morrison of Franklin, Crawford County [sic], Pennsylvania: William Morrison, born circa 1829; James Henry Morrison, born circa 1830; Chalmois Condit Morrison, born 16 April 1833 (Franklin); Philetus Morrison, born 4 July 1835; Charles Morrison, born 16 April 1837; and Eliz Jane Morrison, born circa 1840.
7. WILLIAM2 MORRISON (Hugh1), born 8 July 1805;175 died circa 1885 in Derrick City, Foster Township, McKean County, Pennsylvania; married, ELIZABETH MCMASTERS, born 1815; died 1869 in Forestville, New York.176 Elizabeth McMasters (also McMaster) was a sister of Margaret McMasters who married William’s brother John B. Morrison. William Morrison and family lived in the Pleasantville, Allegheny Township, Venango County, area. William was a farmer and has a biographical sketch with son Thomas Anderson Morrison in Jordan (1913), see after son Thomas (#46). Thomas and family were enumerated in Allegheny Township, Venango County, in 1850.177
8. JOHN2 B. MORRISON (Hugh1), born 22 August 1808;180 died 1877 in Kingsville, Ohio; buried in Lulu Falls Cemetery, Ashtabula County, Ohio; married MARGARET MCMASTERS (also McMaster), born circa 1808 in Pennsylvania.181 Margaret's sister Elizabeth McMasters married John B. Morrison's brother William Morrison (#7). Margaret’s father was William McMasters, re the Morrison–Fleming ejectment suit. From Venango County Appearance Docket 9, August Term, 1845, page 178, via the Venango County Genealogical Club Newsletter, Fall 1990:
I do not know the outcome of this ejectment suit. These Flemings were the Sugarcreek Flemings, apparently not related to the Oil Creek Flemings. In 1850, John and Margaret Morrison and family were enumerated in Cornplanter Township, Venango County, where John was listed as a farmer.182 On 9 May 1857, John B. Morrison and Margaret Morrison were presented a certificate from a Pleasantville church to receive membership in the Concord Congregation, Allegheny Township, Venango County.183. By 1870, John, Margaret, and children James and Harriet E. were in Amboy, Kingsville Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio, where John was still listed as a farmer (census page 222). There is a marriage record reported by the Venango County Genealogical Club,. Spring 1996: Marriage 18 January 1828, John Morrison and Mary M. Lawson. I can not place this John Morrison. Perhaps Mary M. Lawson was a first wife of John B. Morrison, and she died without issue.
9. ELIZABETH2 MORRISON (Hugh1), born circa 1813 in Pennsylvania (she was erroneously reported born in Ireland for the 1870 federal census); married, 2 March 1845,187 ROBERT JORDAN NEILL, born 19 September 1800 in Pennsylvania; died 13 April 1871; buried in Neilltown Cemetery, Harmony Township, Forest County, Pennsylvania. Robert Neill’s first wife was Nancy McCasland, born 30 March 1810; died 31 July 1841; buried in Neilltown Cemetery. Nancy was a daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Lytle) McCasland—see also #8 in the Lytle web site. Robert Neill, a farmer, and families lived in the Neilltown, Forest County, Pennsylvania, area; but in 1850 and 1860 were in Venango County, Pennsylvania. In an 8 September 2007 email (see under #61 Mary Neill), Nancy Briggs reported that by 1870, Robert, Elizabeth and daughter Mary had moved to Kingsville, Ashtabula County, Ohio, where Robert was still farming and daughter Mary, not yet married by the time of the census, was enumerated as a teacher.187b Robert Jordan Neill’s will was written 20 February 1870, recorded 16 September 1871.188 The will mentions wife Betsy Mae, daughters Sarah and Nancy Jane and grandson Robert Black. These were daughters and a grandson by Robert’s first wife Nancy (McCasland) Neill.
