20. WILLIAM3 H. MORRISON (Matthew2, Hugh1); born circa 1827 in Pennsylvania; died circa 1867; married MARTHA STEWART,211 born circa 1828 in Pennsylvania. They lived in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where William was enumerated as a wagon maker in 1850.212 In 1880, Martha Morrison was living in Penn Township, Butler County, where she was reported as a widow, living with her daughter Nancy Morrison, born circa 1866 in Pennsylvania.213

Robert4 Albert Morrison; born April 1851; married Mary A. [—?—], born 1854 in Pennsylvania. In 1880, Robert A. (enumerated as Albert in 1880) and family were living next door to Albert's mother, Martha. In 1900, the family was living in Penn Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where Robert was enumerated as a farmer.

Charles Morrison; born 27 July 1856 in Pennsylvania; married, 4 July 1877, Jane Williams, born circa 1861 in Pennsylvania. She was a daughter of Morgan Williams of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. In 1880, Charles and family were living next door to brother Albert. Charles owned a farm in Butler County, Pennsylvania. From History of Butler County, Pennsylvania, 1895; chapter 71 (pages 870-910): "Mr Morrison purchased the Criswell farm, containing 145 acres, where he has since resided. He also owns a farm in Penn township, and has been a successful oil operator for many years. In politics, he is a Repubican and one of the enterprising citizens of his township."

Nancy Morrison; born May 1866 in Pennsylvania; married William Emrick; born January 1859 in Pennsylvania. In 1880, Nancy, single, was living with her mother, Martha, widow, in Penn Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania.214 In 1900, William, Nancy and family were living in Jefferson Township, Butler County (census page 11B), where William was listed as a farmer. Living next door to William and Nancy in 1900 were Michael Enrick, born July 1827 in Pennsylvania and Bettyann Enrick, born February 1831 in Pennsylvania. They were probably the parents of William.

Note: There was another Martha Morrison, born circa 1827 in Pennsylvania, enumerated in Harrisville, Butler County, in 1880.215 This Martha was the wife of James H. Morrison, a harness maker, born circa 1825 in Pennsylvania. Their children in 1880 were Hazen Morrison, keeping a livery stable, born circa 1851 in Pennsylvania, and Walter Morison, a harness maker in 1880, born circa 1860 in Pennsylvania. Next door was James Morrison, Jr., (another son?), who was also a harness maker, born circa 1858 in Pennsylvania, with wife Annie E. [—?—], born circa 1859 in Pennsylvania, and child Cory E. Morrison, born circa 1880. Next door to James, Jr., was David Morrison, a retired farmer, born circa 1828, and wife Jane [—?—], born circa 1820. Possibly he was a brother of James H. Morrison, Sr. I do not know the relationship, if any, between William H. Morrison and James H. Morrison, both having wives named Martha.


31. REBECCA3 MORRISON (Matthew2, Hugh1); born 29 February 1824; died 6 November 1906; married JAMES NELSON, born circa 1821 in Pennsylvania; he was a son of Hugh and Mary Nelson. In 1880, the family lived in Fairfield Township, Crawford County, where James was listed as a farmer.216

35. JOSIAH3 LYTLE MORRISON (James2, Hugh1); born 1 January 1837; died 21 June 1912 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania; married REBECCA MCCAULEY, born March 1834 in Pennsylvania; she was a daughter of David McCauley. Josiah was a Civil War veteran, Company A 211 Pennsylvania Volunteers. In 1870, the family was in Jackson Township, Venango County, where Josiah was enumerated as a farmer. By 1900 Josiah was farming in Randolph Township, Crawford County. Also living with the family in 1870 and 1900 was Josiah's sister Sarah Morrison, born 1 June 1828; died 17 February 1917.218

David4 Milton Morrison; born 3 April 1861; died 17 July 1944 in Crawford County; married (first), 1 March 1883, Estella Owen (daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Clark Owen); married (second), 2 November 1887, Della M. Smith (daughter of Knight and Caroline Byham Smith); married (third), 15 June 1898, Flora Belle Nelson, born circa 1884 in Pennsylvania (daughter of David and Lilah Rogers Nelson). David was a farmer in the Guys Mills, Crawford County, area and was also a partner in the Randolph Lumber Company, Inc.
In 1910, David and third wife, Flora were living in Randolph Township, Crawford County (census page 257A) with children:
(a) Josiah Lee Morrison, born 21 February 1891—child of Della. He died 4 July 1973 in Pennsylvania.
(b) Cora Rebecca Morrison, born 15 December 1894—child of Della; married Clair Raymond Hostettler; born 10 April 1894 in Pennsylvania. Clair was a son of C. Paul and Minnie E. Hostettler. Cora graduated from Edinboro College, Pennsylvania.

Children of Clair and Cora (Morrison) Hostettler:
(i) June Lorraine Hostettler; married Harold Frank Schlindwein. One child was Alan Schlindwein, a river engineer, a graduate of Penn State, Louisville and John Hopkins. Alan kindly provided most of the information on Cora and her family.
(ii) Betty Hostettler; married Peter Economy.
(iii) David Park Hostettler, a physician (graduated from Temple Medical School).
(c) Nellie Maria Morrison, born 25 January 1900—child of Flora.
(d) Mary L. Morrison, born 23 April 1904—child of Flora.
Also with the family in 1910 was David's father, Josiah, and David's unmarried aunt Sarah Morrison (#33). Nellie Marie (child #3) died 1 August 1976; married Glenn Woodcock. A child of Glenn and Nellie (Morrison) Woodcock was Gladys Ruth Woodstock, born in West Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; married Winston Louis Flaugh. Their first born child was Judy Ann Flaugh, born in Meadville, Crawford County; married Thomas Arthur Heim. Judy Heim, via 1998 letters and her "Descendants of Hugh Morrison," report, provided much information on the descendants of James Morrison (#5), especially David Milton Morrison's family.

Mary Jane Morrison; born February 1867; died 23 October 1937 in Crawford County; married 18 September 1890 in Randolph Township, Crawford County, Clifton P. Byham, born 31 December 1868 in Pennsylvania. In 1900, the family was still in Randolph Township, where Cliff was farming.
Their children were
(a) Charles D. Byham, born September 1891; married Mabel [—?—].
(b) Rae Morrison Byham, born 28 May 1895; died 19 November 1976 in Meadville; married, 15 December 1915, in Guy Mills, Randolph Township, Crawford County, Ruth Antoinette Oakes.

Luna A. Morrison; born 2 November 1874; died 1 March 1954; married Arthur Oakes, born December 1873.
They had three children:
(a) Mildred A. Oakes, born circa 1900.
(b) Ethel Oakes, born circa 1911.
(c) Wilda Oakes, born circa 1916. The family lived in Crawford County, Pennsylvania: Wayne Township in 1900 (census page 4B) and Randolph Township in 1910 (page 260B) and 1920 (page 3B), where Arthur was enumerated as a farmer.



36. JAMES3 KENNEDY MORRISON (James2, Hugh1); born 26 April 1839, died 18 May 1921 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania; married ESTHER A. HANKS (or Banks), born circa 1839 in Pennsylvania. James was a farmer in Randolph Township, Crawford County. Esther's parents were Rufus (born circa 1802) and Cynthia (born circa 1800) Hanks (or Banks), both born in New York state; they were living with James and Esther in 1880.220

Alvin4 B. Morrison; (twin), born 4 May 1863; died 2 May 1936; married Maggie [—?—], born circa September 1867 in Pennsylvania. In 1900 and 1910, the family lived in Randolph Township, Crawford County (next to Alvin's parents in 1900), where Alvin was listed as a farmer.
Child known from the 1900 federal census:
(a) Esther Morrison, born April 1890 in Pennsylvania; married Harold A. Oakes, born circa 1893 in Pennsylvania. Esther was enumerated as a teacher in 1910, when still single and living with her parents.

Children of Harold and Esther Oakes known from the 1920 federal census for Randolph Township, where Harold was listed as a farmer:
(i) Gordon Oakes.
(ii) Robert Oakes.
(iii) William Oakes.
Also living with the family in 1920 was Alvin's father, James K. Morrison.222
