45. MATILDA3 WATSON (Zachariah2, Robert1); born March 1847; married ZIBA FLOWERS, born April 1830 in New York state.112 Ziba's first wife was Editha B. [—?—] Flowers, born 29 April 1831, died 21 January 1866, buried in Memory Acres Cemetery, Pleasantville, Venango County, Pennsylvania.113

Ziba and Matilda lived in Sadsbury Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, and also in Pleasantville, Allegheny Township, Venango County. Ziba was listed as a teamster in 1880 and a day laborer in 1900. In 1910, Matilda, widow, was living in Oil City, Pennsylvania, with her step-son Charles F. Flowers.114 Next door was Matilda's daughter Sinea Cochran and family.

123 i. Charles4 Freeman Flowers, born May 1862. NOTE: he would have been a son of Ziba and first wife, Editha B. [—?—]. In 1910, Charles was living with her step-mother, Matilda, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, where he was enumerated as a janitor in a public building.
124 ii. Edward Flowers, born May 1870. In 1900, Edward, single and living with his parents, was enumerated as a hostier (an operator of a hoist, for example to hoist coal).115 .
125 iii. Hattie M. Flowers, born June 1874.
126 iv. Sinea L. Flowers, born circa 1878; died 1919; buried in Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville, Pennsylvania; married William S. Cochran, born circa 1875 in Pennsylvania. In 1910, the family was living in Oil City, Pennsylvania (next door to Sinea's widowed mother, Matilda), where William was enumerated as a wagon driver of groceries.116

46. WILLIAM3 TAYLOR WATSON (Zachariah2, Robert1); born circa 1849; married circa 1876 MARY [—?—].117

In 1900, Taylor Watson and son Robert and Taylor's brother Aaron Watson were living in Southwest Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania (census page 3A), where Taylor was listed as a teamster. A wife was not listed for Taylor in 1900.

Children of William and Mary [—?—] Watson (all believed born in Pennsylvania):

127 i. Cynia4 Watson; born May 1877; married William Archer, born April 1856.
Children known from the 1900 federal census when the family was living in Warren County, Pennsylvania, and William was enumerated as a driller:118
(a) Emma Archer, born February 1895.
(b) Fred Archer, born November 1897.
(c) Donna Archer, born February 1898.
  128 ii. Viola M. Watson; born November 1880 or 1881. In 1900, Viola, single, was living with her sister Cynia and family in Warren County, Pennsylvania.
  129 iii. Robert A. Watson born circa 1885.
130 iv. Sadie Watson, married [—?—] Murphy.119

48. THOMAS3 SHUGART WATSON (Zachariah2, Robert1); born 31 December 1853 in the Shamburg area, present–day Oil Creek Township; died 19 October 1931 in Enterprise, Southwest Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania; married, 22 September 1891, EMMA ALICE CHENEY, born 14 September 1856; died 28 April 1936.

The family lived mainly in Enterprise,120 Southwest Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania. Both Thomas and Emma are buried in the Cheney Cemetery, near Enterprise, Southwest Township, Warren County.121 In 1900, Thomas was listed as a teamster.122

Children of Thomas and Emma (Cheney) Watson:

  131 i. Jessie4 Florence Watson; born June 1893; married (first) 1915 Arthur Luke, born 26 May 1888; died 15 September 1959; after Arthur Luke died, Jessie Watson Luke married (second) Ralph Reynolds and (third) [—?—] Lyons.123
Children of Arthur and Jessie (Watson) Luke:
(a) Robert Luke; married and had children.
(b) Alberta Luke; married William Collage.
(c) Bette Luke, born 11 November 1924; died 28 September 1991, at home RD 1, Titusville, Pennsylvania; married, 12 October 1942, Edwin Hayes, born 18 February 1922; died 5 December 1990 in Titusville
  132 ii. Henry Clifford Watson; born 12 November 1894; died 11 April 1988; married 8 June 1922. Mildred York. They lived mainly in Titusville. Cliff was a World War One army veteran and a source of Watson information for Patricia Heinen.

(a) Robert Watson; married Joanna Hasbrouck.
(b) Betty Jane Watson; married (first) A. W. Cherry; married (second) E. Wolfkiel.
(c) Mary Alice Watson; married Barry Slagle.
(d) John Watson married Ester Hasbrouck.
  133 iii. Bessie E. Watson; born September 1896; died 1924; buried in Cheney Cemetery, Southwest Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania; married Lawrence Reib, born circa 1891; died 9 October 1966.
Their children were
(a) Florence Reib; married Clair Peterson.
(b) Virginia Reib; married 14 June 1961 in Corpus Christi, Texas to J. Alton Hayes. Her wedding was a double wedding, with her aunt Jessie Watson (#131) at age 68 marrying husband number two, Ralph Reynolds. Virginia Reib was an army nurse during World War Two; and was the office nurse for Dr. W. D. Stewart in Pleasantville, Pennsylvania.124


50. MARGARET3 CHRISTINA WATSON (Zachariah2, Robert1);  born circa 1859.

Heinen (1992), page 333, lists three children for Margaret, enumerated as Watsons. In 1920 Christina (enumerated as Tina) was living with his son William R. and William's wife and Christina's brothers Aaron, Zack and King in Oil Creek Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania (census page 11A).

  134 i. Elsia4 Watson, ; born 1887.
  135 ii. Bessie P. Watson; born 1890.
  136 iii. William R. Watson; born May 1900; married Alyda (also Lydia) Cross, born 1904 in Pennsylvania. In 1930, the family was in Oil Creek Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania (census page 5A), where Willliam was listed as a pumper of oil wells.
Children known from the 1930 federal census:
(a) Maude C. Watson.
(b) Dorothy E. Watson.
(c) William R. Watson (Jr.),
(d) Martha J. Watson (her granddaughter provided the information on William's wife via the Message Board of PAVENANG-L@ROOTWEB.COM, 22 March 2006).
